The Moss Agate Outline Pendant. Made from hallmarked, forged Sterling Silver wire and set with a huge 95ct irregular shaped cabochon of Moss Agate.

I had become intrigued by jewellery I found online that were set with Moss Agate. Some pieces were very translucent, others more opaque and a huge variety in between. I searched through the places I often buy semi-precious rough gems from and eventually found a guy in Indonesia who had interesting slabs of Moss Agate for sale. Once they arrived, I sorted them by their translucency and began working on pieces. Agate is very hard, and it takes some time to shape and get it to a good polish, but it it so worth the effort.

Once I had this and a few other pieces made I set them aside and just kept playing with them until this one popped out as the first to try setting into a piece of jewellery.

I did not want to overwhelm the gem (even though it is quite large) I just wanted to ‘frame’ it. That said I came up with this idea where there are two separate but interlocking frames that mimic the shape of the gem and allow the pendant to be strung from different places so that the wearer can swap it around as they choose.

This pendant is 62mm tall, 55mm wide and 12mm deep.
