Caring for your Jewellery

Now you have a piece of jewellery you love, here are some tips to keep it in fabulous condition.

If you want to prolong the finish on your jewellery, it is advisable not to expose it to perfume, chlorine, cosmetics and body lotions as silver and gold plated items are liable to tarnish. Humidity and body oils, particularly during the warmer months, may also cause discolouration.

Please note the black finish option (oxidised silver) is a very thin finish that collects in the indents in the textured finish of certain items of David J Lilly jewellery.  This can wear away after time or when exposed to the elements mentioned above. We suggest cleaning your jewellery regularly and lightly with a Silver Jeweller’s Cloth that can be bought in supermarkets and online.

How to store your jewellery

We recommend storing your David J Lilly jewellery in an airtight container. A zip lock lunch bag or container which can fit into a jewellery box would work fantastically well. While our gift boxes are great for presenting as a gift, the boxes themselves are made out of materials are not airtight, so are not recommended for long term storage alone.

Jewellery Maintenance Service

All silver and gold jewellery can start to look a little dull over time due to general wear and exposure to natural skin oils, perfume, and body lotions. If you would like to have your David J Lilly jewellery restored to its former sparkling glory, then this service that we offer will do just that. Return your silver David J Lilly jewellery to us and we will repolish your item to the original finish and have any oxidation re-applied. If your gold plating is also seeing the effects of continued wear, we can re-inject the warmth of gold by re-gold plating it in the original 24ct gold vermeil to a thickness of 3 micron.

Please note as our solid gold items require more specific treatment, a high shine polish is £20. Please contact us if there is any other maintenance service your gold item requires, and we will quote accordingly.

Please return your David J Lilly jewellery to the address below. We recommend it is returned via Special Delivery as we cannot be held responsible for items not arriving with us. It is essential that the order number and name the order was made under is included in a note with the parcel. This will ensure the speedy reference of your jewellery.
