Moss Agate Darricarrere Ring
Moss Agate Darricarrere Ring
Made from hallmarked, cast Sterling Silver and set with a kite-shaped cabochon of swirly, wispy, semi-translucent green Moss Agate.
Size J - US 5.
I had already made the first two pieces of the Darricarrere Collection – the Amethyst ring and the Oblong pendant and was really engrossed in creating angular shapes to show off coloured gems.
Now, stained glass is many colours and translucencies and looking through the selection of larger gems I had cut I decided that the next ring should have a semi-translucent gem, so this angular cabochon of Moss Agate seemed perfect. It has a wonderful deep sea green colour with swirls of ‘kelp’ flowing through it and when it is back-lit becomes the softest of yellow greens – really amazing.
Also, I loved the shape and felt drawn to create something similarly angular to it but also give a nod to the sea. So, what came about is this ring with hints of a boat to it but still very definitely in the realms of Roger Darricarrere’s Dalle de Verre window shapes.
This ring is 37mm tall, 28mm wide and 34mm deep.
